Things aren’t going well for Jack. His parents made him leave behind the only home he’s ever known. He’s lost his two best friends. He’s been dumped into a new school where the kids will probably be freaked by his prosthetic leg. To make everything worse, it isn’t like they’ve just moved to a nearby town in Ohio. No, his dad took a job on the other side of the continent in Anchorage, Alaska—a place that’s home to mountains, moose, and a grumpy-talking lynx that will guide Jack on a journey of identity and belonging.

What I’m working on now

When twelve-year-old Carter Campbell sets out at dawn to find a rare sea star on a secluded beach in Sitka, Alaska, he stumbles upon a mysterious girl named Analisa, As Carter forms a bond with Analisa, he uncovers her secret and the hidden past of his own family. With the help of Analisa and a supportive teacher, Carter embarks on a heart-wrenching quest to face the ultimate decision: to restore his mother’s lost joy, even if it means saying goodbye.
